Ill informed appalling

I have no argument with that and am critical also of the Labor Party's support for "offshore processing", but the saddest fact of all is that the we, the population at large, and I suspect the majority of us, simply do not care – because if we did care we would cease supporting this appalling policy.
It is a policy that causes physical, mental and sexual abuse and is condemned by UNHCR, Amnesty International, the AMA and there is no support for it apart from us, the people of Australia.
We are not inherently cruel, just ill informed and too disinterested to become informed.

Fuelling country’s ire
Quite a while ago I wrote a couple of letters to this paper about fuel prices in our area. I also contacted the local radio station and put up a few posters around the place to remind people to complain to Woolworths Petrol and the local independents who were riding on the back of the high prices charged by Woolworths Petrol.
I also contacted Woolworths and spoke to a fellow who rang me, but he could not understand my point that they were using country customers to subsidise city prices and were doing the wrong thing by us country folk.
Well...I bet quite a few people were happy to see Coles finally have a petrol outlet in town. I also bet there are a lot of people who now see what the big boys are up to!
Same prices, same pricing policy. Charge as much as you can get away with and hope no-one notices. Check the Sydney prices and compare them to our local price.
I just did a Sydney price check and found it at 96.9cpl for unleaded. Get my point...nothing has changed!
In fact it's worse considering the price wars that Coles and Woolies have in their supermarkets. They seem to be working together to maximise their petrol profits, which could also be seen as targeting the country customers. “They have no choice so let's get them!”
I urge you to speak up. Email the companies, ring them, complain every time you fill up, ring the local media. Don't let them get away with it.
I'm sick and tired of them doing it to us all the time...come on ALDI, where are you?

Forced medication
Some people just don’t get it! Fluoride added to water is a poison that the human body, especially the bladder, needs to fight in order to eliminate.
Its effect on dental health by ingestion is at best minimal, at worst devastating by leading to fluorosis.
Dental hygiene has never been achieved by forced medication.

Tree clearing woes
Can anyone tell me why people buy a lovely bush block and proceed to cut most of the trees down, even those not close to their house.
This practice is destroying the atmosphere those around them enjoy.
No reduction of trees will stop a bushfire with a north wind behind it on a 35 degree day. Removing trees in some areas will only create a tunnel the fire will follow.
Apart from having an impact on the local birds and animals, tree removals affect us all. They clean the air we breathe, help keep rainfall levels stable and remove excess water from flood prone areas.
If too many trees are removed in an area, die back will creep in and we all know the devastation this has created in the Snowy Mountains.
Please Bega Valley Shire Council, stop this practice before it’s too late.
