On Friday, August 5, more than eight different cafes from Eden to Bega, including the new Hudsons Coffee franchise within the South East Regional Hospital, will be donating one dollar from every coffee sold to the Reaching Out Foundation as part of the national charity CafeSmart.
Merimbula resident Danielle Collins was in Sydney last year when she first heard of CafeSmart and decided to bring it to the Far South Coast.
With the help of Reaching Out chairman Ross Williams, Ms Collins approached cafes up and down the coast and inland through to Nimmitabel in an effort to get them involved.
“It’s a simple idea but it has the potential to raise a lot of money for our local soup kitchens,” she said.
Hudsons franchisee Alicia Edmed said she was proud to be able to give back to the local community.
Other Valley cafes involved in CafeSmart include Merimbula’s Waterfront Cafe, Poppy’s and Club Sapphire, Wild Rye’s and the Toucan Cafe in Pambula, and Sprout and Roswitha’s Delicatessen in Eden.
It is not too late for other cafes to join CafeSmart. Simply call Danielle Collins on 0428 954 010.
