Organisers said the calm conditions could never last and a variable swirling breeze made it hard to hit the mark consistently.
Ole E was the only shooter contesting the full bore class and he coped well in the conditions to hit 89/4 out of the possible 100/20.
The scores in F class were still high in the bracket with Russell P leading on 115/6 from the possible 120/20.
Colin T was second on 111/8 with Bob M in third on 107/6.
Craig S shot 105/3, while Mark S hit 102/2 from Tony’s 101.
Scott C was close behind on 99/3 ahead of len on 94/1 and Steve on 88/2.
New starters Tony, Glen and Steve all did quite well considering the distance and tricky conditions.
However, officials said Russell was near impervious to the conditions to hit the day’s best after scoring the maximum in the opening round..
