Tabitha Bilaniwskyj-Zarins attended the show, held at Bendigo over July 14-16, to hold a stall for Tabandy Farm where she showcased fibers.
She entered her garment in the wearable art category of the show, where it was paraded on a catwalk by a model, and was surprised when it came third.
“It really made my day, I was thrilled,” she said.
“I think the big thing for me is that it shows we can create amazing things ourselves.”
Ms Bilaniwskyj-Zarins said her wearable artwork took seven months to make, was handsewn and uses about 1000 sequins.
In addition, she spun the garment using wool and gold lurex as well as doing crocheting and felting with silk on it.
You may spot the creation on stage in the future, as Ms Bilaniwskyj-Zarins will wear it when performing with her band Latvian Independence Day.
