Club officials said there were pumped for three games to be held on the day with ladies to run at noon ahead of reserve and first grade fixtures to run at George Brown Memorial Oval. “Unfortunately, the Eden firsts and ladies are out of top five contention,” a spokesman for the club said.
However, the Eels will play in the semi-finals with their first opponent to be Narooma or Bombala, so Sunday’s test against the Blue Heelers will be an important game.
The combined Eels-Tigers under 18s side is also assured a spot, and will take on either Moruya or Cooma, but playing out of fifth means each round will be sudden death. Injuries have hampered the team, but it is nearing full strength.
In a round being hailed as “Ray Day” Group 16 refs will donate their fees to the Ray Ryan fund and the Eels are donating an extra $200 raised through a ground raffle recently.
