Can't there be a treaty and constitutional recognition? The latter will make non-indigenous Australians acknowledge the reality of history from an indigenous perspective, you would hope. A UN-recognised treaty should be possible regardless of the content of the Constitution...now or later.

Sunday penalty rates
With such a shortage of work, I don't think it would be an issue. If people don't want to have to work on Sunday, give the shifts to people who are keen to get the extra work. I'm sure lots of school aged kids would work Sunday for normal wages. More businesses can open and more people can be employed.

As a health worker penalty rates are the boost to my income. Without them my wage would drop significantly and I would still have to spend weekends away from my family.

I work in retail and those penalty rates really help my children. To have them gone would leave a massive hole in my budget. And I know I'm not the only one who thinks this.

ACT trials publicly funded home births
Yes, considering home births are currently not being practised at all in the Bega Valley due to new legislation, then women can have the choice to birth how they wish, based not on how much money they have.

What’s next, taxpayer funded formula and clothing? Is there any part of a child’s life that isn’t taxpayer funded these days? I’m all for home births, but with baby bonuses and the other taxpayer funded allowances for children why not have taxpayer funded weddings and funerals as well.
