John Moore at Narooma Fishing Charters reports that 2016 continues to be a very unusual fishing year. The water temp at Montague Island was 18.4c on Sunday, and there seemed to be plenty of warm water still coming. “Today's trip only resulted in a couple of (barely) legal kings being boated, but there were plenty of nice sized bonito to fill the esky. What was strange was the number of undersize kings around, normally we only get good kings in July!”
Estuaries and beaches have again been hammered by the latest storms with more high winds forecast for the next couple of days. Good luck getting out there and finding a gutter on the beaches.
NSGFC report: Narooma Sport and Game Fishing Club member Dean Rando had his first visit to Montague Island recently with dad Pete. Pictured is Dean with his first kingfish. Dean also caught bonito, snapper, trevally and reef fish. Seals and whales were also experienced and a small whaler shark, which swam into the burley trail, and was tagged by Dean. Busy day out at the Island!
