Justin Anthony Ingram of Quakers Hill in Sydney’s west and Anthony Cutmore of Moorehead St, Eden hit up four places between Sydney and Eden in the space of three days.
The pair have pleaded guilty to stealing the car, along with multiple break and enters.
The spree began when the pair broke into a Quakers Hill home in the early hours of March 8 this year, stealing items, cash and a black Toyota Yaris sedan while the victim was asleep.
Later that day off-duty police allege they saw the pair in the stolen vehicle in Blacktown before driving off, triggering a search of the area.
Police allege the pair drove south, with CCTV footage from March 9 captured 18-year-old Cutmore smashing the glass door of a Cooma petrol station before leaving with 20 cartons of cigarettes.
Police said CCTV footage also showed the pair breaking into the Tura Beach Bakery and allegedly the Asian Pearl Chinese Restaurant, before they were confronted by a witness at the restaurant and fled the scene.
In the following hours Cutmore and 19-year-old Ingram checked into the Sapphire Waters Motor Inn in Merimbula.
When police attended Cutmore’s grandmother’s house on the afternoon of March 10, Cutmore answered the door and was arrested along with Ingram and the stolen car was located on a street near the house.
A search of Cutmore by police located the car keys in his pocket and later forensic tests showed DNA similar to Ingram’s in the driver’s seat.
Police visited Ingram’s mother’s house on the night of March 3 as a part of a curfew check, where they were told he was helping a friend with scaffolding.
Police visited Cutmore’s grandmother’s house in Eden on March 2 after he had failed to report twice at Eden Police Station as part of his bail conditions and were told he was in Sydney.
The pair will face Bega District Court on August 8 for sentencing.
In other court matters, a Mid-North Coast man has been committed to stand trial for the alleged indecent assault of a minor in Towamba.
The 39-year-old is charged with three counts of indecently assaulting an eight-year-old girl between July and November last year.
The man will face the NSW District Court on August 24.
