The ladder-leading Sea Eagles will be fresh off a bye round and host the Lions at home in both women’s and senior men’s games.
Both senior squads are undefeated heading into round seven and will look to continue their dominance in the competition.
Coach Brad McBain is working well with the combined troops out of the Bega and Tathra camps and things couldn’t look any better for the Sea Eagles.
The club has already knocked off the Panthers and downed the Merimbula Diggers in another big test of fitness.
So the Lions could appear to be a paltry task for this powerhouse combination.
However, McBain acknowledged the pace and exuberance of the young Lions pack during the Lightning Cup and said the Sea Eagles would not be complacent going into the weekend.
“As far as the seniors are concerned - we won't take [our lead] for granted and we'll be working hard to make the second half of the season better than the first,” McBain said after toppling the Diggers.
“We don’t want to be complacent and we won’t be sucked in to thinking we’re better than anyone.”
But it will be a tall order for the Lions to get around key playmakers in the Sea Eagles with the midfield firing at the halfway mark in the season.
Co-captains Luke Taylor and Scott Hay have partnered up well to dominate the fringes and support the middle men in the likes of Troy O;Loghlin and Chris Dwyer.
Ryan Dakis and Fin Crowley are contesting marks well, while Adam Blacka is a big challenge to mark in the front lines.
It will be a similar story in the women’s contest as Bega-Tathra fronts as competition favourite after five-straight wins.
However, Narooma’s record of one and three does not do the debut team justice in its continued endeavour on the ball.
Tyjana Thelan is shaping as a strong on-baller for the Sea Eagles, while Tarni Evans has used her sprint speed to great effect on the flanks.
Coach Col Funston will also welcome the expected return of some players from injury like Eloise Sherwin-Russell.
The club is encouraging everyone to head along to Lawrence Park on Saturday and cheer on both the juniors and seniors.
There is a massive day of football with under 11s, 13s, 16s, development grade, women’s and seniors to run at the Tathra ground.
The first game is on at 8.30am with the first bounce in the seniors from 2.30pm.
