Best known as frontman for internationally touring outfit The Re-Mains, Daley’s new incarnation introduces an erudite voice in Australian folk music.
He’s playing with Tom Jones (double bass) and Adam Bell (guitar) as the Corporate Raiders.
With the release of his latest album Tiny Violins, Daley hits rough political waters. His new work charts the venomous coal seam gas industry and parodies right-wing media columnists, as well as savaging the backwaters of love gone wrong.
Daley and The Raiders are touring that record, and also playing songs off his last album Courage and Shuffle the Cards, along with select songs from his eight-album repertoire with the Re-Mains.
Appearing along with Mick and his band will be Canadian born singer/songwriter Adam Young.
Last seen in the ‘90s with grunge guitar bands The Daisygrinders and Big Heavy Stuff, Young was resigned to a decade and a half of mainstream employment, desultory gigging and the slow accumulation of new material.
But he was unable to keep the demons of country music out of his head and in exile Young embraced them.
He wrote an album's worth and engaged a team of crack musicians and producers to harness the poltergeists.
The result, Elementary Carnival Blues, is all over the radio, all over the country.
While Young can't take his band everywhere he goes, he's stepping out solo to play those songs like they were written, on a plaintive acoustic guitar.
He's back from the wilderness and he’s had a shower.
This is promising to be a great show, in which punters will also be treated to a debut appearance by local singer/songwriter Adrian McBeth. He’s been drinking some of that Candelo water, and has some treats in store.
Entry is $15/$12 concession, with doors opening at 7.30pm.
