It is 100 years since the first Anzac Day commemoration was held and the community feeling for our service men and women remains as strong as ever.
At dawn on Monday, April 25, the Bega War Memorial Gate was hemmed in on all sides by current and former service personnel and their families, ADFA representatives, members of the Bega RSL sub-branch, and several hundred members of the community.
In paying their respects to those who gave their lives in war and to those who returned to help build this country, the crowd heard from sub lieutenant David Hayes from the HMAS Cerberus and laid wreaths at the foot of the memorial gate.
The official Anzac Day march will begin at 10.45am from Club Bega with the service to follow at the memorial gate from 11am.
