Great free camps on the way and very RV-friendly towns.
Came back and stayed at Tumbarumba – what a great town. Even had an overnight stop in the middle of town for caravans and motorhomes. They cater very well for tourists and they love them!
If Bega is really interested in attracting tourists to town, the councillors should take a road trip to Tumba and see how it’s done properly!
It is a very profitable shire. Unfortunately if it was merged with Tumut Shire all that enthusiasm for the tourist dollar will be swallowed up to pay for Tumut’s debt and Tumba will suffer.
Don’t merge.
Back to Bega’s problem – can’t some land at the old racetrack be used for overnight stops or a bit longer at a reasonable rate?
There are already toilets there.
Imagine if all the vans that drive through Bega had somewhere to stay overnight. How much money would come in into town

What next?
Have you noticed the antique lights and toilets in the park near the swimming pool being removed some time ago.
Then council sets up a nice play area for young children with no toilets.
Why remove what we had over history?
Now we are starting to see why council lets the clock fall in disarray – thinking the people will forget all about it and it won’t be a problem to get rid of it.
I for one look at it every time I go past, checking the time and wondering why council hasn’t fixed it.
Council says its dangerous – one person got killed when he rode into it.
Are we going to cut every tree down on roadsides? (No difference)
The clock is a safe haven when crossing on that side of the street.
What’s the hidden agenda?
The bush telegraph has it this ids the worst council they can remember.
Remove the councillors, not the clock. I challenge the councillors to have at our next election a first past the post voting system.

Red Cross thank you
The Bega branch of Red Cross would like to thank the Bega Valley community and businesses who generously supported Red Cross Calling during March.
The Bega branch organised collections to raise funds that will support the everyday work of Red Cross – from a daily phone call to check on the wellbeing of elderly people living alone, breakfast for kids who might otherwise go to school hungry or to support families who have been evacuated due to a flood or fire.
The branch next meets on June 1 at 2pm and new members are very welcome.

Grass a hazard
For 30 years or more the council has been mowing the grass in the small park area at the top of Bunyarra Drive in Bega.
Now as a cost-cutting measure they have stopped doing it, saying it really is the Housing Commission’s problem.
Now it hasn’t been mowed for over six months and has become a fire hazard, to say nothing about vermin and snakes etc.
Really after all these years to stop doing one small park when they mow the other park four houses down the street. How much money are they saving?
Don’t forget there are ratepayers living over here and I for one am not impressed council at the state it is in.
