After 30 minutes the Devils led 8-nil, following tries to Karn Mikolic and Rod Ceasar, but in a devastating ten minutes Bega ran in four tries to lead 22-8 at half-time.
Just after half time Ceasar “the Florida Flash” brought the house down with a 90-metre intercept try, displaying to all just how fast he is, also earning a 9 out of 10 for his swan dive under the posts.
That was the end of the good news for the Devils as the Bega boys ground out a win in one of the toughest games seen at Smyth Oval in a long time.
Best for the Devils were Riley Hextell, Rod Ceasar and Booga Ayers with Neil Graham and Todd Bennett strong all day.
A special mention to local under 18s boys Gus Wilton and Matt Swadling, who backed up from reserves to sit on the bench and did fantastically well. What a future these boys have. The Devils face Moruya on Sunday, who beat Bombala 60-12.
