He was born and raised in Dublin before settling in his adopted hometown of Melbourne in 1987.
His belonging to his new country is evident in songs such as Language of the Land, a powerful cry for reconciliation with Australia’s Indigenous people.
Yet, like his birth country, Kenny can seamlessly shift from the deeply poignant to the fun and entertain audiences with quirky, witty lyrics.
Kenny’s back catalogue of recorded work provides a perfect introduction to his stories of life, love and justice, but it is on stage where he truly shines.
He has collaborated for over 20 years with acclaimed Wollongong-based fiddler Lindsay Martin and more recently, multi-instrumentalist Dave O’Neill who was a long-term member of Eric Bogle’s band.
Enda Kenny is playing with Dave O'Neill at the Tathra Hotel on Saturday and Sunday, February 13-14 from 4-7pm.
