All players and prospective players are asked to attend this session where they can meet the committee and coaching staff.
Premiership winning coach Tim Weyman is back on deck to steer the side and is keen to repeat the success of 2015.
While back-to-back premierships is the ultimate goal, Tim is realistic and acknowledges that there is a lot of hard work and commitment required before the club can have another crack at the crown.
A positive for the club is the re-signing of the bulk of last year’s first grade line-up, and the addition of a few new faces for 2016.
Couple this with the advancement of some talented under 18s players from last year and the Sharks are looking in good shape.
Weyman is excited about the year ahead, stating that he “relishes the prospect of coaching and playing with the boys that took us to a premiership in 2015, while welcoming some new faces to our ranks.”
Michael Cottington has been re-appointed as reserve grade coach, and he too is keen to follow up on last year’s premiership success.
The playing numbers are healthy and the Sharks always put a strong side on the paddock in reserve grade.
“I believe a strong reserve grade, is essential for a successful club, and provides the platform for first grade and a pathway for our juniors,” club president Dave Farrell said.
Lee (Langer) Nye continues in his role of under 18s coach and is keen to impart his knowledge and experience to the lads.
Last year’s under 18s made it to the grand final and Nye is keen to go one better in 2016.
Most players will be returning for their second year, while many of the last years under 16s will be stepping up to the senior ranks.
The ladies’ League Tag coaching position is once again filled by co-coaches Lana Badoulovich and Amber Weyman.
The girls made the finals in 2015 and are hoping to continue their improvement under the experienced co-coaches.
The club encourages all players, junior, senior and girls to attend on Thursday, as the sharks commence their 2016 campaign.
“Any new players are most welcome, and we encourage them to come along and become part of our great club.,” Farrell said.
“It will be a good opportunity to meet and greet new players as well as coaching staff and officials.
“We had a great 2015, with the feel and enthusiasm this year just as good, with the added bonus of starting from a much better base having had a full year under Tim Weyman’s coaching style.”
