POLICE have issued a man an infringement notice after he attempted to drive across a flooded bridge on the Far South Coast on Monday, January 4.
About 3pm, officers from Far South Coast Local Area Command were patrolling Tathra-Bermagui Rd at the Murrah.
On approaching the Murrah Bridge, police saw flood waters had reached the bottom of a speed sign, approximately 1.4m high.
A black Ford Territory, driven by a 45-year-old man, had become trapped while attempting to drive across the flooded bridge.
Police and a passing Landcruiser driver assisted the man.
The vehicle and driver were rescued unharmed; however, the man was issued an infringement notice for negligent driving which came to $425.
Police have reminded the community never to drive, ride or walk through floodwaters - it is extremely dangerous as fast-moving undercurrents can quickly wash people and vehicles away.
