This is a difficult question for many and one that White Ribbon Day brings to the surface.
“I’d ask them why they think it’s okay,” South East Women and Children's Services’ Staying Home Leaving Violence’s Tahnee Austin said.
“There’s no excuse at all, you just walk away because there is no reason to put your hands on a woman.”
Far South Coast Family Support Services Geoff Bevitt feels that standing up against any form of violence is important for any society.
“What is the message that us men as fathers want to give to our children?” he asked.
“As men we need to be held accountable for what we do.”
Sapphire Men’s Group member Peter Cross said he would tell his friend to seek professional help.
“It’s ok to tell someone that their actions are unacceptable,” he said.
“I’d ask them, do you reckon it’s time to get some help?
