The Sea Eagles sit in top spot on the one-day ladder after their victory, while Bega/Angledale’s win sees it rise to second.

Opening batsman Cook put on a 155-run partnership with number four Tom Keath, before Keath was caught by Ross Jones off the bowling of Chris Dwyer for 60 with the score at 3/179.

Cook was last man out for a well compiled 103 after hitting just 20 runs in his last three innings.

The Bluedogs finished their 40 overs at 6/213 with the Sea Eagles’ opening attack of Dan Blacka and Dwyer picking up tidy figures 3/38 and 3/33 respectively.

Kye Overand was the only other Bluedog, along with extras, to reach double figures at the Pambula ground.

Set 5.33 runs an over for victory, the Sea Eagles lost danger-man Dwyer early for no score before captain Adam Blacka and Geordie Gibbs put on a solid 65 for the second wicket.

Kye Overend trapped Blacka lbw for 33 before a useful 32 from Peter Bennett saw Tathra on track at 2/129.

Gibbs and number five Gordon Wiegold finished the job for Tathra in just 36 overs with both picking up half centuries.

Only 14 runs were needed when Gibbs was dismissed for 58 and Wiegold finished not out on 62, 40 of which came in boundaries.

Extras including 20 no-balls did not help the Bluedogs attack, with Brendon Gordon the pick of the bowlers with 1/26 off just three overs.

Meanwhile at Dalmeny Oval, Bega/Angledale’s Braiden McIntosh claimed the best bowling figures of the season with 7/34 in a big win against the South Eurobodalla Pirates.

The Pirates were in trouble early batting first at 5/15 before capitulating in just 14.5 overs to be all out for 62.

Number six Dean Friskin and extras both topped scored for the Pirate’s with 22.

McIntosh clean bowled five South Eurobodalla batsmen on his way to the season’s best figures, while Jack Matthews picked up a tidy 2/14 off four overs.

McIntosh now has 11 wickets in the competition this season at an average of just 9.50.

In reply the Bulls had an unenviable scorecard at one stage losing four wickets for only 11 runs,  before Hamish Willcox and captain Robbie Ringland calmed the storm.

The only positive the Pirates can take from the six wicket loss is opening bowler Nick Mason’s economical figures of 2/13 from eight overs, including two maidens.

In the final game of the round, a 160-run opening partnership between Drew Mudaliar and Andrew Evellyn guided Eden to a huge 143-run win over Merimbula at the Eden Cricket Ground. 

Reece Wheeler snagged 4/24 to help dismiss the Knights for just 105, chasing 249 for victory.
