This was because it was Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day), where people dressed in orange to show their support for State Emergency Services (SES) volunteers.
The Bega office of the NRMA held a morning tea for members of the Bega SES Unit as the NRMA is the principal partner of the rescue service.
Bega SES unit controller Yvette Ringland said WOW Day happens around this time every year but next year it will be moved to Volunteer Week.
There are eight SES members in the Bega unit, including two who are qualified for vertical rescue and one flood technician.
They meet at 247 Newtown Rd, Bega at 6pm on Wednesdays and new members are welcome.
“You learn lots and it’s a good experience,” member Rod Gould said.
Member Cass Whyman said you also get nationally recognised skills.
Ms Ringland hoped to get a flood team together, as floods are the major issue the local SES branch addresses.
