Held at Pambula’s Oaklands Event Centre the night attracted a who’s who of business people, politicians and community members all looking to contribute to the foundation’s many upcoming projects.
“It was interesting to see everyone let their hair down.”
- Mumbulla Foundation president Gary Potts
Mumbulla Foundation president Gary Potts said he had been told the night was the organisation’s best yet.
“It was a fantastic night,” he said.
“Everyone had a great night dancing into the late hours.
“It was interesting to see everyone let their hair down.”
Around 140 people donated over $20,000 on the night, with three quarters of that amount being raised during the auction alone.
“Nights like this help us provide grants to many small community groups and a large proportion of charitable organisations qualify and see funding from us,” he said.
“We’ll be announcing the next round of grants in about a month’s time with a ceremony at the council building where the successful projects can receive their cheques.”
Mr Potts said the night’s entertainment was the highlight with the Leisa Keen Big Band. Tilba Tappers and the Bournda Dancers on show.
“The entertainment was great and so was the auction which raised a whole lot of money,” foundation member Christine Walters said.
Ms Walter’s husband John spent weeks building the night’s props that created an atmosphere right from the busy streets of New York.
“The money raised means we can help more not-for-profits in the area and the more money we raise the more groups in the Valley we can help,” Ms Walters said.
“It was really successful.
“I’d like to thank everyone who came along to make the night and donated to the foundation.”
Over the last 14 years the Mumbulla Foundation has donated more than $800,000 in grants to a range of community projects around the Bega Valley.
Best dressed awards on the night went to Julie Rutherford of Bermagui and Terry Bunn of Wapengo.
