Destruction of community
I am totally at a loss with our local council. Once again they have destroyed a beautiful community project as part of their expansion of a car park.

The Gipps St bus shelter mosaic project was demolished without notice to anyone last week to make way for the new council car park.
The mosaic project involved local young people and wonderful artist project officers of Bega a few years ago - adding culture and beauty to a spot that was in need of uplifting.
Today it no longer exists and there seems to be no plans to involve those artists to replace them in the future....what the hell is going on?
Once again no community consultation, no provision for saving anything of culture.
Is Bega on the way to a cultural desert inspired by lack of heart and communication from those who have all the power?
I for one am sick of it!

Essential penalties
In answer to Jason Lewington's comment of October 16, I want to point out that without my penalty rates I lose my disposable income, which has allowed me to employ local carpenters, plumbers, electricians and painters over the years.
My Sunday penalty rates have also allowed me to buy pizza and coffees and furniture and whitegoods and plants. All of these from local Bega retailers.
You say that more casual workers would be employed and delivery of service to the community would be improved, but people like me would not be requiring these services as we would no longer have the disposable income to use them.
My Sunday penalty rates come from looking after aged people and younger people with a disability and it amounts to about $80 a fortnight - and you think the community would be better off with me earning less and unable to buy the odd pizza and coffee.
Thanks for the support.

Summary of deception
Between 1988-2014, the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change produced five assessment reports.
Its last totalled over 7000 pages - the physical science basis took 209 lead authors, 50 review editors, and over 600 contributing authors.
From its 7000 pages, IPCC produced three “Summaries for Policymakers” - physical scientific aspects, socio-economic vulnerability, and options for mitigating climate change.
Summaries comprising about 20 pages are guides for media coverage, shaping new legislation in nations with compliant governments, and for affirming the UN Framework Convention for Climate Change.
A corrupted political deception drives the creation of these summaries.
The IPCC scientist authors draft the summaries.
Then, a protected meeting of politicians, bureaucrats and assorted other officials of the UN and member nations spend a week rewriting the scientists’ summary draft.
Every single word/phrase is projected on to large screens and discussed, graphs are added, tables subtracted, and no progress is made until all countries present are happy with it. Journalists are excluded from this political horse trading.
The world is then told that science has spoken, while the original 7000 pages get amended to conform with the politically-negotiated “summary”.
Those who blindly believe, tragically wallow in this IPCC deception, for example Labor’s Kelvin Thompson MP (Hansard 20/10/15) “We need to understand what is happening and be prepared to take action - evidence-based, science-based action”.
Done by independent climate scientists! Not done by the IPCC!
Whither blind belief and fraudulent deception?
