New captain Robbie Ringland is very comfortable with the line-up and said he had a couple of new inclusions.
“We’re looking good with Joel Stewart and Liam Cooper coming in,” Ringland said.
The senior side also hasn’t any major losses, but gained valuable experience last season and will look to reach the finals.
“We’re looking to the finals at least, but hopefully a grand final and maybe bring home some silverware,” Ringland said.
“We’ve got players like Jack Allen, who at 14 already has 56 first grade wickets to his name.”
Then there is Jack Matthews, who Ringland hailed as possibly the fastest bowler on the Far South Coast, as well as the rising talent in Lachlan Sims.
“All those guys are really promising,” he said.
We’re a good family club with great culture and people involved ... John Dedman and Glenn Wilcox, they’re great cricketers, but they are better blokes
- Robbie Ringland
The inclusion of young players is no detriment to the club, but Ringland said is building a very bright future.
“John Dedman said after the Australian roadshow ‘you play to your ability not your age’,” he said.
“I played A grade back when I was 14 and it definitely set me up – I wouldn’t have been ready as early if I hadn’t done that.”
The club also has a good turnover of kids coming up the ranks, which bodes well for future seasons.
It also creates a family atmosphere around the club.
“We’re a good family club with great culture and people involved,” Ringland said.
“People like John Dedman and Glenn Wilcox, they’re great cricketers, but they are better blokes.”
Ringland played in the local and Canberra competition this year, but will stay home to focus on the Bega-Angledale club.
Fans should expect a more focused and determined showing from the captain as he looks to head up the A grade side.
Meanwhile, there is a few spots still open in the lower grades, which will start later this month.
Ringland said the club needed just a handful of players to round out the ranks and present a strong front in the competition.
The Bulls will take on the South Eurobodalla Pirates.
The match will be played at Bega’s George Griffin Oval on Saturday from 1pm.
