It is set in a federal government department, the National Building Authority,  where it is frantically busy, but very little gets done.

There are only two people who are really interested in actually getting things done - the boss Tony, played by Rob Sitch and his offsider Nat played by Celia Pacquota.

In last week's episode, Tony was stymied by publicist Rhonda (Kitty Flanagan) who insisted he hold a launch for a tunnel, even though the excavator had barely hit our shores.

Determined to not let her get her way he threatened her with various people, finally topping it with “I'll go to the Prime Minister”.

She won with her “I'll go to the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff”.

Neither Nat nor Tony, the epitome of common sense, ever win and although it's hilarious watching them try, it's still worrying that although this may be satire, it's really close to the bone.

LAST Tango in Halifax (ABC, Saturday) is back with the characters, as ever, enmeshed in personal problems.

This time around Alan has found out he has a son from an almost forgotten quick affair he had when he was married to his first wife.

The son is a millionaire and wants nothing from Alan, which I'd like to believe except the character is played by Rupert Graves who usually gets the charming but evil roles.

Well, perhaps this time the casting director is giving a Graves an opportunity to be really nice, but Celia is very put out by the whole thing because her first husband was a philanderer and even though this was Alan's one and only fling, she won't forgive him and to be really horrid she won't even go to her daughter's wedding.

What a tangled web they weave in Last Tango and it's going to get worse!

I JUST love The Great Australian Spelling Bee and am astounded at the aptitude of the children involved.

I've always considered I had a terrific vocabulary, but one child at least, Mica, knows words I've never heard of.

My two favourites are now out of the scene, the deaf boy and the little cheeky Sikh, but that doesn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying this show.
