Last Wednesday night at the South Coast Tourism Awards, held at the Ulladulla Civic Centre, Tathra Beachside was awarded gold in the tourist/caravan park category, topping a strong field of competitors from Wollongong to the Victorian border.
The last 12 months have seen monumental change at Tathra Beachside (formerly Tathra Beach Family Park) with the introduction of a state-of-the-art water park, three disability-compliant three-bedroom beach houses, and a raft of upgrades and innovations.
Part-owner Frankie J Holden was thrilled with the award.
“This is fantastic, not just for Tathra Beachside, but for the town and the whole of the Far South Coast,” Mr Holden said.
“Knowing we can compete with some of the really iconic parks in Australia and win!
“It’s a true credit to our region and especially to our amazing staff.”
The excitement wasn’t over for Tathra Beachside, which also won the gold award in the family friendly tourism category, with entrants from all fields of tourism including attractions, entertainment providers and accommodation.
Carmen Risby, part-owner and general manager of Tathra Beachside, acknowledged the park’s guests in accepting the award.
“Our greatest hope is that we can deliver awesome, memorable holidays to families,” she said.
“The fact that we now have so many return customers is proof that we’re doing something right!”
A bronze award in the accessible/inclusive tourism category judged on the accessibility of facilities was the icing on the cake.
Not satisfied to rest on its laurels, Mr Holden said Tathra Beachside had “some very exciting plans for the September school holidays so watch this space!”
