Linda Dodd, Leanne Cochran, Therese Wheatley and Anne-Maree Carroll have been four inspiring women behind the annual success story since its inception 14 years ago.
These four women (and their families) have contributed an enormous amount to the community over the last 14 years.
Wharf to Waves started when a group of preschool families, who were also surf club members, decided to create a big fundraiser to replace smaller fundraising events that raised small amounts of money for lots of effort.
You only have to look at the capital improvements at the preschool and surf club to gauge the success of this event, improvements that could only happen because of Wharf to Waves funding.
Now it is time to welcome a new executive committee in preparation for the 14th running of the Wharf to Waves, scheduled for January 16-17, 2016.
Taking over the reins are Jane Funston, Jen O’Leary, Kylie Dummer, Emma Cattermole, Natasha Scott and Jane Courtney.
There is also a crew of subcommittee members who share the many tasks that make Wharf to Waves possible.
The Wharf to Waves is a weekend event run in collaboration with Tathra Life Saving Club and Tathra Preschool.
It includes a bike ride from the Bega Bridge to Tathra Bridge, Tathra Beach fun run and ocean swims.
The 2015 Wharf to Waves weekend was a great success - 150 competitors took place in the beach fun run, over 100 bike riders hit the track, and around 300 swimmers plunged into the water on the Sunday.
The weekend continues to attract local and interstate people from all walks of life and visitors are increasingly organising their holidays around this annual event
In 2015, a record number of volunteers helped make the event possible - all are all listed on the Wharf to Waves website.
If you would like to volunteer for any of the events over the 2016 Wharf to Waves weekend, contact Jane Courtney at Tathra Preschool on 6494 1847.
