The Pambula Penguins proved the underdog the crowd could get behind as hundreds of vocal supporters cheered on the boys in orange to a penalty shootout win.
The Devils and Penguins had gone 1-1 in regular time and proceeded to an extra time period.
Pambula jumped ahead again through a flying header of Justin Pilgrim, who scored the opening goal the same way.
However, Bega's Blake Grant lined up for a dot shot with 5 seconds remaining in the second period of extra time after a handball in the Pambula box.
Shockingly, Grant had scored Bega's first goal in the same fashion and as the whistle blew, the scores were level at 2-2.
Going down the list, each player shot their respective goals in the shootout, at 5-5 it went to extras.
Pambula slotted its kick, while the Penguin keeper denied the shot of Simon Jones to win 6-5 on the count.
Earlier the Devils had been denied 2-1 in extra time in the reserve grade clash.
The full-time score was 0-0, Bega fired a quick goal in the first passage of extra time, but the Grasshoppers countered almost immediately and scores were locked at 1-1.
The Merimbula side found the net again to finish offf a 2-1 scoreline.
In the women's contest, Tathra shone brilliantly to win 3-0 over the Wolumla Tigresses.
It was a text-book affair for the United girls, with strong showings on the fringes and through the centre.
