Well guess again, because Australian stunt driver Robbie Maddison has shocked the world by sailing the waves of Teahupoo.
A video of Maddison titled "Pipe Dream" was released by Sponsor DC Shoes early on Monday morning and has gone viral around the world.
"Something clicked in my head. I fantasised putting skis on a bike and riding on water. It was a stupid vision at the time, but I kept toying with it, playing with designs and concepts, and eventually it became a reality," Maddison said in an interview with Surfer Magazine.
The Kiama rider said it was only through extensive experience he even dared challenge some of the world's biggest waves in one of the most extreme motorbike stunts to date.
"I’ve surfed since I was 8 years old. I’ve been a surfer for like 26 years. If I wasn’t a surfer growing up there’s no way I would have ever even imagined this, not to mention have had the knowledge of how to read the wave," he said.
"I was only comfortable in this scenario because I’ve spent the majority of my life dropping in on waves.
"If I hadn’t been a surfer at heart, I couldn’t have pulled it off."
The theory of riding atop water was proven on the popular science program Mythbusters in 2013 when Jason Lindstrom rode almost 150 metres across a lake.
Maddison appeared to have two small boards resting next to the front wheel to aid his bouyancy during the stunt.
