Organised by Finn’s Skate Shop, the night was a chance for local youngsters to get together and express themselves.
“I wanted to give them something to do in the evening and keep them off the streets, and also to promote to council that there are no lights down there at the park,” organiser Finn Askew said on Monday.
“All the local crew were there, but we stayed out of the bowl because it was wet,” he said.
Mr Askew is hoping to hold night sessions regularly and is looking forward to next month’s skate night.
“We just need someone with a senior first aid certificate in case something happens before we can make it an official night,” Mr Askew said.
So what were the highlights despite the wet surface?
“Bob Shipton’s frontside boneless on the wet quarter pipe was trick of the night,” Mr Askew said.
