Each was presented with a Paul Harris Fellow Award – named after Rotary’s founder – at the club’s annual changeover dinner.
On their behalf, more than $9000 has been donated to The Rotary Foundation to acknowledge their service.
First to be honoured was Frances Kerkham, a past president of Batemans Bay High School Interact Club, who is involved in many activities for young people.
Also honoured were past district governor Maureen Manning, past president Hugh Scott, treasurer Bruce Clarke, past treasurer Peter Kable and outgoing president Alan Russell. The club acknowledged Yvonne Scott for her community service, particularly with Quota and the cancer charity Can Assist.
Mr Russell said the club had a successful year and presented funds to groups the branch supported this year.
He passed the chair of office to incoming president, Vere Gray, who is commencing her second term after holding the position five years ago.
Ms Gray challenged all present to “be a gift to the world”, as Rotarians worldwide have been challenged by Rotary International’s president KR “Ravi” Ravindran, of Sri Lanka.
Anyone interested in learning more or in joining Rotary is invited to call Ms Gray on 4471 3468 or visit www.rotarybbay.org.au for more information.
