Bega park to get new playground
Hopefully whoever plans and implements the design and construction of these much needed playgrounds will do a better job than the 'new' playground at the Pambula River Mouth.
One swing only, and queues of kiddies waiting for their turn, non-existent access for people with a disability to get down to the beach other than the provided stairs.....one would think that these planners had more idea of the needs and requirements of the people using the Council funded projects.
Please come out of your office, take a good long look at who uses these facilities, talk to a cross section of the actual users, then go away and design & build something that suits the MAJORITY of people, not just something that looks "pretty".

Mobile blackspot funding leaves Tathra in the dark
Apparently Optus has offered three times to put up a tower in Tathra and residents have objected to it-they won't offer again, so looks like Tathra will remain a blackspot...so glad I live in Bermagui!

One would think that with their history of calling for emergency services Tathra would be a priority. Hope we don't need the services.
Peter Crowley
Tathra will always be a dead spot.

So Mr Hendy fails to make any improvement in Tathra coverage despite promising he would make sure Tathra was on the list. Businesses I spoke to recently are losing customers. On-call workers, including medical professionals, emergency services and teachers, are unable to receive calls. And over the past 6-8 weeks the Telstra coverage has been FURTHER reduced due to "Upgrades, repairs, congestion, anomalies..." according to various Telstra responses.
Thanks for nothing Mr Hendy.

Well done BDN! It's great to see what is happening in Bega through the PC, while at home in Canberra. Can't wait to move to my property down there.

Dr Geoffrey Long marks 50 years’ service
Congratulations Dr Long. You were my Dr for many years before I moved to QLD. You saw me come into this world, you also saw my two children come into this world & you save my life in a medical emergency. I, like a lot of people own you a lot. You are a truly amazing person. Thank you.

Bega RSL members outed for wearing fake medals
You don't earn it, you don't wear it! Simple as that. Friggen disgusting
Nick Sais Fishing
Shame on them. They know that when you have to purchase a medal it is improper or just plain mischief. The sub branch needs to weed this crap out. Ex-servicemen and women should be proud of their service to the nation and not embarrass themselves and other ex-service personnel with this type of behaviour
Gary Howard
As President of Mururoa Nuclear Veterans Group Inc I find this abhorrent and those involved should be "dismissed" from any position they hold within any Ex Military Organisation or Public Service.
MNVG Inc represents Veterans that served both Australia and New Zealand during the French Nuclear Test in 1973 along with supporting the Families, children & grandchildren of those that have passed on. To these men, (who have had their identity hidden temporarily) Shame on you, you are a disgrace.
Wayne O'Donnell
Seriously, in these days of instant media and the myriad of social sites such as Facebook you would think these blokes would know better. Any serving military or ex-military person who is not half blind can pick such fake medals and badges a mile away. What drives people to do this in full knowing it is wrong and in such a public way? Is it that they never got to wear the Sheriff Badge when they were kids or is it their lives are so bland and boring they have to create a bit of mystery and intrigue about themselves. Whatever the case may be it just simply wrong and shows a fair degree of contempt for those who actually earned their medal and badges through sacrifice and dedication to their respective services. Shame gentlemen, shame....
Harry Noe
Have just caught this post and am totally disgusted at the behaviour of these Bega Sub-Branch members. The wearing of fake medals just to be recognised is a sham and betrayal to our service personnel serving, retired and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
SHAME SHAME SHAME ON THE THREE OF YOU.
I hope you are discharged/banned from the sub branch for life - and I'd like to meet you somewhere locally as I am a local.
You should be named as you have absolutely no integrity what so ever.
Am I Annoyed - YOU BET YOUR LIFE I AM.

Councillors vote for pay rise
My tyres cost less than $1600 fitted, and will last for 70,000 plus klm. Perhaps the rest of your allowance could be put towards fixing the goat track up past the fire station and st. Vinnies in Bega. Then all our tires would last even longer.
Or maybe you finish the park in Bega. You know, the one that you don't have any money for...
Scott Wyatt
Not sure where Cr Seckold shops for tyres if $18k barely covers the cost for a set. Maybe picks them up personally in Paris.
Greg Round
ahhhhhhh - so THAT'S why we need a rate rise...

Is this a April fool joke?

"Killer Pythons have already been downsized by the confectionery giant, going from 47g to 24g"..... doesn't that mean they are no longer pythons but just your regular snakes?
