The competition, which also includes a contract with a leading European modelling agency, is open nationwide to males and females aged 16 years and over.
As well as the overall winner, there is a special category for Illawarra and South Coast entrants to win the regional prize of a $1500 holiday package and another $1000 holiday package for the highest fundraiser.
Illawarra’s Top Model entries have opened with entrants to parade during Wollongong Central’s Spring Fashion Campaign in September and early October.
The finals of Illawarra’s Top Model will be judged on a runway in the Wollongong Mall on Mental Health Day, October 10.
The competition is a fundraiser for the Highlights on Mental Health campaign.
Highlights on Mental Health campaign director Robyn te Velde said the winner of the model competition would win a trip to Europe, accommodation and expenses for a modelling contract in Europe put forward by her son Paul James Hay, now the owner and creative director of a leading European agency, Core Artist Management EU, which will soon establish a scouting office in Australia.
A number of other international model agency owners, casting directors and fashion icons from the fashion capitals of the world (including Paris, London, New York, Milan and Berlin) have accepted Mr Hay’s invitation to come to Wollongong specifically for this event.
They will be part of the judging panel looking for fresh new Australian faces during the heats and finals of the model competition in Wollongong.
Entry is open now with forms and details available online at www.highlightsonmentalhealth.com.au.
Shoot the Model 2015, a photographic competition, was also launched as part of the campaign.
Professional, amateur and student photographers are invited to compete for $3000 in cash prizes.
Entry forms and details for Shoot the Model are also available on www.highlightsonmentalhealth.com.au.
