Local groups Bemboka Rural Area Support (BRAS) and Bemboka Improvement Group and Bega Rotary Club, with the support of the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia, have worked together to provide the community with a free screening of the film.
Jenny Anderson from BRAS, a non-profit group formed by local woman, said that previous events organised by BRAS, with the assistance of local community groups, had been great functions for the wider community, with the Bemboka Memorial Hall recently hosting over 200 people for a night of bush dancing with the Kameruka Bush Orchestra.
The movie “Road to Nhill” is an Australian comedy from 1996 based around the story of four local women who are involved in a car accident when returning home, and the film follows the trials and tribulations of the locals as they rally to help the women.
But all does not run smoothly as no one knows for certain who was involved in the accident or why it happened.
Australian actors including Bill Hunter, Terry Norris, Monica Maughan, Lynette Curran, Patricia Kenney, Denis Roberts, Lois Ramsey and Alywn Kurts form a wonderful cast, and the film was given a four star rating from both David Stratton and Margaret Pomeranz on the SBS Movie Show.
On the night BRAS will be supplying hot soup with roll dinner, for a small fee, with the well-known Bemboka supper available for purchase at intermission, and popcorn will also be available.
The pre-screening dinner will be available from 6.30pm, with screening commencing at 7pm, and there will be a winner of the lucky door prize so make sure you get your ticket at the door.
This is a free screening courtesy of the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia and all members of the public are invited.
