Dear Mr Hendy,
I have just heard your ABC South East Radio interview with Ian Campbell and was extremely disappointed to learn that in all your travels and talking posts throughout the Bega Valley Shire you had failed to connect with the vast number of community members here who do indeed support same-sex marriage.
I wish therefore to bring to your attention my views on this matter.
I support the right of any adults to marry whomever they choose without interference from government.
If two people love each other enough to want to form a committed relationship as recognised under Australian law as a marriage, I fully support them.
Same-sex marriage laws are being implemented by progressive nations across the globe.
It is inevitable that it will happen in Australia.
May I suggest that if you are serious about garnering the opinions of the good people in the Eden-Monaro electorate, that you 1. Visit the Bega Valley more often, with more notice and more focus on attending events held by a wider selection of constituents and 2. You unblock local residents from commenting on your Facebook page.
I warmly welcome your response to my letter, in writing, at your earliest convenience.
Jo Dodds
