BEGA Valley horse owner Janice Northey has again been convicted on multiple charges of animal cruelty.

In 2014, Northey was convicted in her absence on 54 counts of neglect.
She applied for the ruling be annulled due to fears for her safety if she’d attended court on that day, but the application was rejected, and she appealed that ruling in the District Court.
The District Court upheld the appeal and sent the whole case back to the Bega Local Court to be heard again.
On Wednesday, May 27, Northey again did not take part in the hearing and was again convicted by Magistrate Doug Dick.
The original fines still stand - $600 each for 20 counts of failure to provide veterinary treatment to a horse; and $350 each for 34 counts of failure to provide sufficient food and water – totalling $23,900.
On top of that Northey was ordered to pay the RSPCA court costs of $56,110, witness expenses of $12,880 and professional costs of $11,000.
All up the fines and costs total $103,890.
She was ordered to surrender all horses in her care within 28 days and is prohibited from purchasing, owning or caring for any horse for 10 years.
