THE reconstruction of the concrete boat ramp and re-decking of the timber jetty at North Narooma’s Apex Park is underway.
Double barriers have been placed around the works to limit any sediment or run off from the works getting into the inlet.
Boaters meanwhile have been forced to use alternate ramps at Mill Bay and at The Inlet at Forsters Bay.
A council spokesperson said the works started a few weeks ago and are planned to be completed by the last Friday in June.
A pontoon wharf will be incorporated into the boat ramp design, giving boaters and fishers easier and safer access to their boats because the pontoon will rise and fall with the tide.
The pontoon measuring 24 metres long and two metres wide will be constructed of black plastic and topped with hardwood timber decking and steel safety poles.
Tenders were called for the new pontoon and the work has been awarded to Sydney-based company Clement Marine, who will manufacture and place the pontoon in August.
Similar pontoons are successfully in use at council boat ramps at Moruya town wharf and Hanging Rock in Batemans Bay.
