Mr Stone was presented with his $3000 scholarship by Bega Cheese renumeration and benefits manager Matt Fanning recently at Bega Hospital's Rural Clinical School building.
Mr Stone is one of the group of third year Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Sugery students based at Bega.
Also attending the presentation was past winner and local doctor Belinda Allan, Rural Clinical teaching staff and fellow Rural Stream students.
In presenting the scholarship, Mr Fanning said Bega Cheese is happy to have been associated with the ANU Medical School for the past 10 years.
"It is great to see the success that comes out of the program in recent years.
"Liam's essay was well researched and contained some good ideas," Mr Fanning said.
Dr Allan's winning essay six years ago was on the subject of suicide rates in farmers and mental health in general.
Dr Allan, along with Dr Yin Huey Lee another past winner of the scholarship, who could not be attend last week's presentation, are two examples of the program's success as both have returned to Bega to work.
Mr Stone said he is also considering coming back to Bega on completion of his studies to do some more rural work at the new hospital.
