The contest is open to those who live or go to school in the Eurobodalla.
The winning stories in each age category will be bound and presented to their authors, and copies will be added to the Eurobodalla libraries’ collection.
Mayor Lindsay Brown said judges wanted stories that were imaginative and had a unique plot.
“Your story can be about anything,” Cr Brown said.
“We just want young people to get writing, be creative and have fun.”
The judging panel includes Eurobodalla Writers’ Group members.
Age categories are five to six, seven to eight, nine to 11, 12 to 14 and 15 to 18 years.
The mayor will announce the winners on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.
Entries close on Friday, August 28 at 5pm.
Entry forms are at shire libraries or on council’s website, www.esc.nsw.gov.au.
