I was particularly impressed with the way the Channel Seven news team accepted the award for Most Outstanding News Coverage for the Lindt Cafe siege.

The three did it with sensitivity and dignity.

Young Miranda Tapsell also made two great acceptance speeches.

This Indigenous actress praised the script of Love Child because of its depiction of young women, she also encouraged producers to use more “coloured” (her words) actors, and also suggested to young people to get out there and fulfil their dreams.

What I didn't like were the many references to grogging and the comedy lines given to presenters with the jokes often falling flat.

I thought the tribute to Richie Benaud over-long, and the In Memoriam to the others who died in the last year very badly done indeed.

The concentration was on the harpist/singer and there were long shots of  the dead actors, producers and scriptwriters before zoning in, but even then the names were in light script and very hard to read.

Not well done at all.

I KNOW that My Kitchen Rules (Prime) is manipulative, but the thing that really bugs me is the count-down as they put the food on the plates for their entrees, mains or desserts.

Every single time, and I mean every single time, it's a mad rush.

Surely one team in the competition could be ready a few minutes early and just stand back and admire their work and, also, if the dishes didn't get all the ingredients on in that panic, once the count-down was over, were the contestants  allowed to add the finishing touches?

POLDARK (Sunday ABC) has two of the best British character actors in the business and they are both overacting like mad.

I'm talking about Warrren Clarke (Dalziel in Dalziel and Pascoe) and Phil Harris, who has so many credits and usually puts in a great performance, but sadly not in this series.

Love the bloke who plays Poldark, but I know the Cornish coastline is scenic, but enough already of Poldark on his horse galloping over the hills, silhouetted against the sky.

THE Weekly with Charles Pickering I find entertaining, as is the show that follows it on the ABC on Wednesday nights, Agony.

The one that comes on next 8MMM, on an Indigenous radio station, shows promise.
