THE Bega Bombers senior Aussie rules squad took aim at the Narooma Lions on Saturday.
Played at the Bega Showground, the home side quickly set their sights on the goals and didn’t look back.
Adam Blacka led the squad in a match-best 11-goal spree, which saw the Bombers win 24.11(155) to Narooma’s 5.9(39).
Blacka was deadly accurate in his repeated shots on goal and also provided a strong presence in the front lines for the Bega outfit.
Coach Chris Dwyer said hard work through the centre had seen exceptional kicks heading up front.
“It wasgood having his prsenece up there, we were working well to get some solid kicks up there to him,” Dwyer said.
“Aaron Wheatley as well worked hard up front and kicked about six goals.”
Dwyer led by example through the mid field, taking some high-flying marks and running hard on the ball.
Cody Hazelgrove-Danvers and John Harney also pressed the attack for Bega.
Dwyer described the game as possibly Bega’s best performance to date and was pleased with the team spirit.
“It was really pleasing to have everyone working as one unit and seeing all their training coming together on the field,” he said.
“We were getting good movement through the backline and midfield, then in the second half it was even better.
“All our disposals were pretty good.”
New additions to the Bombers in Tom Edmunds and youngster Kel Evans excelled on the weekend as they develop their skills.
“I think we’re starting to get a bit of culture in the club,” Dwyer said.
“We just want to keep things basic and see more of a running game, working the ball with our hands and running play forward.”
