A FREE bike safety program for Indigenous children will be held in Eden and Merimbula in coming days.
Provided by AustCycle and NSW Roads and Maritime Services, the three-hour workshop provides a practical way for children to learn about bike safety initiatives through bike handling skills, safe places to ride, how to fit and wear a helmet, relevant knowledge of road rules, visibility while riding and an introduction to bike maintenance.
Participants will be provided with a helmet, bike service, high visibility shirt and a certificate of achievement.
There will be a small number of bikes available, but children are encouraged to bring their own.
Registrations close 48 hours before the program starts or when registrations are full.
The Merimbula workshop will be on April 26 from 2-5pm.
The Eden workshop will be on April 27 at Eden Public School from 9.15am-12.15pm.
