Initially the members made poppies to enable the group to make three wreaths for Tathra, Bega and Bemboka RSL sub-branches to present on Armistice Day, November 11th, last year.
The group continued knitting and crocheting the red poppies, eventually presenting the committee with over 200 of the many and varied styles and colours of poppies.
With the generosity of the Box Hill RSL sub-branch in Victoria, through a family connection, the Tathra branch of UHA were given another 300 poppies and decided they had enough to make a carpet of poppies to place at the Cenotaph in Tathra on Anzac Day.
Handmade poppy wreaths have again been presented to the local RSL clubs for their dedication on Anzac Day.
