A HOUSE fire in Bega was possibly caused by leaving a plastic washing basket on a stove top that hadn’t been turned off.

The fire caused an estimated $5000 worth of smoke and fire damage to the house.
On April 10 at 11.40am NSW Fire and Rescue were called to the house on Parker St, where they forced entry and extinguished the fire.
The occupant was not at home at the time.
Early investigations revealed the cause of the fire could be the washing basket being left on the still-lit stove.
POLICE are investigating malicious damage caused to a vehicle on Newtown Rd, Bega.
Around 7.30pm on April 12 a brick was thrown at a Mitsubishi Magna, causing a large dent.
This damage will cost approximately $500 to repair.
AROUND midnight on April 12 police were called to an address in Rawlinson St, Bega in relation to loud noises coming from a property.
They found music being played loud, with several people on the property’s premises.
Police spoke to the resident, and issued them a 28-day noise obeyant direction.
If the resident breaks this direction, they could be fined substantially.
A DRIVER from Fraser in the ACT has been charged with possessing a prohibited drug.
On April 10 Far South Coast police from Bega were conducting a targeted drug operation on the Monaro Hwy near Nimmitabel using a drug dog.
About 5pm they pulled over a vehicle for a check and a search of the female driver’s car revealed 37 grams of cannabis.
The drugs were seized by police and the female was issued with a court attendance notice.
She will attend Cooma Local Court on May 12.
A KTM racing motorcycle was stolen from a garage on O’Connells Point Rd, Beauty Point between 6pm April 12 and 2.35pm April 13.
Anyone who has seen the bike or has any information is asked to contact Narooma police.
A 32-YEAR-OLD man stopped on Strudwicks Rd at the Bermagui industrial area 9pm on April 9 for a breath test was found to be driving on a suspended licence.
