He is the youngest of three mountain biking brothers, and on Saturday Michael Parker proved every bit the baby-faced assassin as he knocked off the competition.
An impressive field of 67 riders lined up for the 20km event, which was also the first of two warm-up races for the June Tathra MTB Enduro.
In a great show of family support for mountain biking, the Parker boys, their two younger sisters, wives and partners made up 10 per cent of the field.
However, it was Michael that proved the fittest and fastest of the crew as he motored around the winding single track loop in just over one hour, only 16 seconds ahead of junior MTB ace Sebastian Weber and brother Ben.
The third Parker brother Sam was sixth.
In a lightning-fast start, a group of six broke away early, with Michael grabbing the lead after four kilometres.
Weber, Ben, Sam, Charlie Todd and motorcross demon Mal Cash tried to get by Michael, but slowly dropped away – leaving Weber as the only one within striking distance.
However, Michael’s superior race craft and fitness saw him cut the tape for victory.
In the women’s division, local Stacey George grabbed the win ahead of Nimitabel’s Nikki Wallace and Kalaru’s Cymmon Parker.
Fellow Parker clan girls Brea Willimans and Naomi Shoobridge were fourth and fifth.
“It was an amazing turnout,” event organiser Andy Johnson said.
“Cars with bikes and people kept rolling in, right up to the start.”
Johnson said the atmosphere was friendly with mix of locals, those from the Monaro and the ACT, and a couple of holiday ring-ins from Queensland and Victoria.
“It’s was also great to see so many families racing - it created plenty of fun mini rivalries – plus everyone that raced had the chance to win a slice of the $1000 cash donated by John Stylaniou of Tarra Motors.
“And the money was not just for winners, we were randomly giving away money to those who entered – as encouragement to join in and have a ride,” he said.
The second round of the Tarra Volkwagen Winter Warmer series will be staged on May 9.
The 30km course mirrors the first half of the Tathra MTB Enduro, and will feature all three climbs and descents on the Bundadung trails.
Entry is $5 – with $1000 in prizes again on offer.
