We began with Riana and Lily having good runs, but a forward pass denied us a score. Bega had a set of six and kicked, Jamie Anne took the kick from Bega beautifully and, swerving and dodging, ran nearly the full length of the field and passed to Janaija Parsons who scored. Jamie Anne converted: Narooma 6 Bega 0.
Bega didn't know what had hit them. The Narooma girls were playing well with good runs by Remi Wilton and Lily Bennett. Five minutes into the second half, Kayla Tyrrell scored and Jamie Anne converted for Narooma 12 Bega 0. Bega hit back with an unconverted try.
Kayla and all the girls played well having great games, topped off when Lily Bennett scored a great try. It was converted by Jamie Anne for three from three and we finished Narooma 18 Bega 4 and a great win for the girls and their coach Mark Elmasri.
The reserve grade took to the field with great gusto, but I'm afraid it was short lived. They never stopped trying, but Bega was just too good, so it’s back to the drawing board for the boys. The only try was scored by Karl Krehan.
First Grade started off well, with Clint Wright having a good run pressing the line but failing to score. Bega came back, but good Narooma tackling, especially by Chopper, kept them out until the 20 minute mark.
Narooma came back strong and Tony Tyrrell scored and Brendan Harper converted to make it 6 all.
Tyson Moritz was hitting every Bega player that moved but alas Bega scored again, going into half time Bega 10 Narooma 6. We lost three players at half time with injuries - Brendan Harper, Riley Hextell and Jarrod McMillian all of whom were playing exceptionally.
Five minutes into the half Bega scored again, but coach Clint Wright answered for Bega 16 Narooma 10.
However, Bega came again for 22-10 before a try-saving tackle by Chopper followed by good play that put Ryan Weymouth over, conversion by Clint, to pull it back to Bega 22-16.
However, in the closing minutes Bega scored two quick tries to leave the final score at 40-16.
It was a tough game and Narooma was in it until the end, and coach Clint was pleased with their first game, especially given that Bega are the defending premiers.
The Devils will be much stronger for the game, but only hope their injuries aren't bad, so if any new players want to join the Devils now is the time to stand up and be counted. Next Saturday we play Batemans Bay in the Bay.

A big thankyou is given to all who stepped in and helped on Saturday, as we had hardly any workers on hand. Please help us out if you can: even just an hour would do to ease the problem next home game. Go the Devils
