The Candelo Village Festival is the town’s biennial celebrations involving music, food, street performers and art in the small country town.
The event runs from noon to midnight, see Friday’s BDN for more coverage.
The Tathra Public School Election Day Market will run at the school from 8am until 2pm and will be a family-fun day with activities for all.
Organiser Chris Gowing said 30 stalls have registered for the market, which will mainly be selling local produce and goods such as plants, jewellery, soaps, clothing and second-hand items.
Kids can enjoy themselves on the jumping castle and have their faces painted.
There will be a barbecue for breakfast, brunch and lunch, as well as a tea and cake stall, and Bega High School’s Cambodia excursion will also have a stall.
The Easter egg raffle held on the day is a fundraiser for the school’s Year 5/6 Melbourne excursion.
Overall the market is a fundraiser for Tathra Public and money raised will go towards library books and transport costs for excursions.
“It’s just a fun community day, that’s what we want it to be,” Ms Gowing said.

Bega Valley Public School’s P&C is running an all-day barbecue from 8.30am - to whenever they run out of sausages.
Money raised at the barbecue will support the school, in particular the Breakfast Club which provides breakfast for pupils from underprivileged families who may be missing out on breakfast.
Call Bega Valley Public P&C president Rod McDonald on 0410 529 517 for more information on the barbecue.
At Bega High School a cake stall will be held to fundraise for the school’s Cambodia projects, which students contribute to as part of their excursion to the country.
The stall will be at the school from 9am until noon, or whenever they run out.
Bermagui’s fourth annual CRABS Bike Show will be showcasing all manner of motorcycles at their gleaming best.
Proceeds for the show go directly to local cancer support organisations Bega Valley Can Assist and Cancer Council NSW – CRABS has raised over $200,000 so far.
A highlight of the day will also be the draw of the raffle for a brand new Stacer boat and trailer with 30hp Mercury outboard, safety and fishing gear.
Entry is $10 for adults, $5 to enter a bike and kids under 12 are free.
At Quaama Public School there will be a P&C cake stall from early morning to lunch.
Money raised will go towards supporting the school.
The Candelo Village Festival will not have all the music in the Valley either, as powerhouse reggae band The Strides will play at the Murrah Hall from 7.30pm.
It is $20 entry to The Strides, with kids free.
