Officials said the scoreline blew out with the Roosters posting 18 unanswered points to “extinguish the Devils’ flames” in the final 10 minutes.
The grand final rematch had both teams locked in an arm-wrestle for the points.
Twice the Narooma home crowd was on its feet, only to be denied by a stoic Bega defence.
The Roosters then worked out of the half and it was a bomb kick providing results.
Ryan Apps found a gap off Shaun Bell and posted the points after a 20-minute deadlock.
The Devils’ hard working prop Tony Tyrrell proved a handful at the 30 minute mark in a rolling run that saw him cross, and the conversion was online making it 6-6.
Dillon Aldridge Replied off some smart back line play 10-6 half time.
Bega was the first to strike after the break through Bell off a halves set up by James Bower-Scott and Tate Cochrane.
With Bega looking to take command, Narooma’s Clint Wright’s move down the short side saw the wily captain-coach cross 16-10.
Hard-working forward Mitch Carter kept the margin up for the Roosters with a crashing run.
The Bower-Scott conversion put the score at 22-10.
Next it was the Devils benefitting from a bomb as Ryan Weymouth found the ball in the in-goal - 22-16.
Both sides were throwing everything in the attack, but it was the Roosters’ resolve coming out on top.
Line breaks by Bower-Scott, then Apps and finally Scott Ingram had the visiting team post 18 points, with the last try scored on the siren.
“Bega had some young talent on display with the Duncan brothers, hooker James and flanker Mitch making their grade debuts,” club president Garry Arkin said.
Carter was a standout in the forwards, but had plenty of support from Apps, Bell, and Joe and Dillon Aldridge.
Bower-Scott’s kicking was on point and he also crossed for a try.
The scoreline in the earlier reserve grade game was markedly different as Bega overran its opponent.
The Roosters won the game 70-4.
“Bega’s captain-coach Wayne Northey touched down for four tries in a strong display,” Arkin said.
Along with a dominant showing from the forward pack, the Roosters were 40-0 at the break.
Arkin said highlights from the game included doubles to Jay Elliott and Scott Barton, while Larry Fuller also showed a good step and swerve to cross for his first try of the game.
Going against the combined Eden-Merimbula-Pambula 18s it looked to be a tough outing for the under 18 Roosters.
However, two late tries in the first half set the Roosters in front 10-4.
Arkin said the squad “was on the job” in the second half with Mitch and James Duncan prominent alongside Zac Cuzner.
It was a blowout scoreline in the second half as the Roosters raced to a 38-10 win.
In the league-tag match up, the Bega Chicks were sporting a new look roster.
With the Narooma team showing plenty of flair, the home squad was able to best the Roosters 18-4.
The She Devils led 6-0 at the half, but then extended their lead to 12-0 putting Bega under the pump.
The Chicks responded through some good running as Bronty Burhop and Joccoaa Rogers rallied the team.
Olivia Dummett showed pace to score 12-4.
The Chicks looked to be back in the game, but Arkin said some missed tags and loose passes allowed the She Devils back over the line.
However, with a host of new faces the team will gain valuable experience from the match.
