The auxiliary is attempting to raise $50,000 to buy TVs to contribute to patient care, and to help them with this task a crowdfunding page has been created, to make donating to the group easier.
The auxiliary’s vice-president, Dorothy Mullaney, said at Christmas time they had about $6000 towards their goal, so still had a way to go yet.
“We are always buying equipment for the hospital,” she said.
“The public is absolutely marvellous how they help us, as everybody will eventually use the hospital one way or another.”
Also, the auxiliary is looking for more volunteers to join its ranks and help out.
“Most of our volunteers are in their 70s, and some in their 80s, so we are looking for some younger members to come along,” Ms Mullaney said.
The auxiliary takes on many different forms of fundraising, such as catering, raffles and is organising an upcoming golf day.
“Anything we can think of to help us raise money, we will do it,” Ms Mullaney said.
They will cater for any occasion, where almost all food is homemade, from office functions, cattle or garage sales to weddings.
They are starting an Easter raffle, and members will be in the Sapphire Marketplace and Ayres Walkway, Bega, selling tickets for hundreds of dollars in prizes.
Ms Mullaney said the group is also talking about a having street stalls and will hold a fashion parade in October to raise the funds.
You can donate to the auxiliary’s cause on its crowdfunding page at www.gofundme.com/8uxg7o.
