A MAN is being charged with assault after an attack that allegedly occurred in a Bega hotel.

The 38-year-old male from Bega has been charged by Bega Police with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and will appear at court on April 14.
The assault is alleged to have occurred in a Bega hotel on December 11 last year.
A 61-YEAR-OLD male driver from Merimbula was detected drink driving on Tuesday.
He was stopped by Bega Highway Patrol about 10am on the Princes Hwy north of Bega at a stationary RBT site.
The man was arrested and taken to Bega Police Station recording a low range PCA reading.
He was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice to appear at Bega Local Court.
IN OTHER news, police from the Far South Coast Local Area Command participated in a region wide Operation BARB from February 27-28.
This operation targeted alcohol related offences.
There were two people arrested and three charges laid, 55 licensed premises inspections conducted with three breaches detected, and 121 vehicles were stopped and drivers were breath tested.
One driver was charged with low range PCA and being unlicensed in the Bermagui area last Friday evening.
Police were pleased with the general behaviour of the public that were out over the evenings in the towns’ central business districts over the weekend.
