This is from donations by individuals and businesses and has been achieved before the fund’s two planned fundraiser events, with one on this Saturday (March 7) and one in April.
While it has only been a short time since the fund started, Jacqui’s sister Emma said she wasn’t surprised by the amount that had been raised so far.
“It’s just what a community does,” she said.
“It’s just amazing.”
All the money raised through the fund will go towards supporting Jacqui’s family - her daughters Matilda and Charlotte and husband Ryan Dunning.
Emma said the children were doing very well, and being well looked after by Ryan.
“My family are just so proud of him, he’s doing such an amazing job with the girls,” she said.
Emma wanted to thank all the businesses and individuals who have already donated to the fund, with a “huge” thank you to Fat Tony’s.
“But it’s the little one’s that get to me, the families struggling themselves who give $20, it’s just beautiful,” Emma said.
A fundraiser will take place on Saturday from 1-4pm at Fat Tony’s, featuring musical entertainment by Heff, finger food, market stalls and a monster raffle.
Many prizes are up for grabs in the raffle, including pamper packs, kids packs, a knife set, a tackle box, an angle grinder, a sleeping bag, a fishing reel and vouchers.
Market stalls will have flowers, pendants and items from a body shop.
The $20 tickets can be bought at the Bega Pool, which you can call on 6492 2340, and there are still 40 available with leftover ones to be sold at the door.
On April 11 from 4pm at Tathra Hotel, there will be more of a “party” fundraiser, Emma said.
“It’s what Jacqui would have wanted,” she said.
At this event there will be music and prizes, stay tuned for more details.
