However, it’s not to everyone’s liking.
Last week, councillors discussed community group applications for financial assistance.
One group was the 7th Light Horse Bemboka Troop and its request for $3000 to buy uniforms and saddlery for Anzac centenary marches around the shire.
Councillor Keith Hughes said he if he voted in favour of the application, it would be “with a heavy heart”.
“Wars have wrought so much misery,” he said.
He also said he didn’t agree with Anzac Day marches as they “are in danger of going off the rails and glorifying war”.
When the count was taken, Cr Hughes was the only dissenting vote in granting the Bemboka Light Horse $3000.
Meanwhile, in a separate item, the Bega Valley Advocates for Timor Leste will receive $4000 - for its continuing programs in Natarbora - after that vote passed unanimously.
